In reply to your letter of the 28th inst. (Ref: 33819/1916) with reference to one of Messrs. Jardine, Latheson & Company's employees I am commanded by the Army Council to inform you that in view of the importance of Mr. Eastman to his firm and the nature of their business they agree that he shall not be called up for service at present, and that his passport may be renewed. for a further period. It would be advisable for Hr. Eastman to be furnished with a copy of this letter which he will be able to produce when applying for a renewal.
